Introduction
This section is designed for General Studies of Primary Schools, with the aim to train students their ability to analyse social issues with multiple perspectives and independent thinking. Most of the sample activities / teaching resources can be conducted in the campus. Teachers may also adjust the activities / teaching resources according to the actual situations and teaching need of specific subjects.
Notes for the exercise:
- Encourage a culture of inquiry, lead students to think and discuss without having a preassumed stance;
- Create a relaxed and accommodating atmosphere that encourages open-mindedness, objectivity and respect for different views;
- Help students understand the background and values of different members of the society. Guide them to recognize “subjective” viewpoints, and also to evaluate critically and interpret “objective” information;
- Help students understand the goal of urban renewal, and the positive and negative views of the society when urban renewal work is implemented.
