Can a home be adaptive with time?
This year, the URA collaborate again with the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) and the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) to coorganise the “Innovative Design Competition", aiming to leverage the design, architectural and engineering background of students from IVE and HKDI to apply their creativity and knowledge in technology to create an item/facility/design plan for a home or building that can facilitate sustainable living for elderly or soon-to-get-old residents in old urban districts. Your innovative ideas may win you cash prizes!
Competition schedule:
•Deadline for application: 20 March 2020
•Submission of entries: Mid - late June 2020
•Shortlisting and final adjudication: Early July and late July 2020
Participation method:
The competition is open for IVE’s engineering (HD) and HKDI’s Architectural Design (HD) and Interior Design (HD) students only.

Assessment criteria:
a)Creativity: 30%
b)Feasibility and practicality on smart-living design: 30%
c)Feasibility and practicality on sustainable living design: 30%
d)Meticulousness of the model and presentation:10%
Prizes:
•Gold Award: Trophy、certificate and cash prizes of HK$30,000
•Silver Award: Trophy、certificate and cash prizes of HK$20,000
•Bronze Award: Trophy、certificate and cash prizes of HK$15,000
•Most Creative Design Award, Smartest Design Award, Best Sustainable Living Design Award, Best Model/ Digital Presentation Award: Trophy、certificate and cash prizes of HK$2,000 each
•Merit Award:Certificate, and cash prizes of $2,000 each for a total of seven awardees
